I guess the reason we sometimes say "shou sugi ban" might be because "yakisugi ita" lacks euphony. Normally, we would say it as "yakisugi"(焼杉) or "yakiita"(焼き板). Go easy on me. My writing might still not be very skilled. 😋|意味は同じです。「焼杉板」を「しょうすぎばん」と読むこともあるようですが、本来は「やきすぎいた」と読むと思います。(訓読みは言いずらいから?) 普通は「焼杉(やきすぎ)」とか「焼き板(やきいた)」と言うと思います。 hope this helps :)
