Monday's workshop will cover writing career objectives, job qualifications and a summary statement on a resume. The March 27 workshop will help job seekers put together a resume through the Winway resume computer software program. Amy Dowell of the S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Department will teach the workshop.

The workshop schedule for the Upper Savannah region is available at www.usls-tops.com or at a local one-stop workforce center. Job seekers are often able to talk about their skills and qualifications, but putting them down on paper can be challenging. The One-Stop Workforce System offers workshops to help clients meet these challenges, and now workshops are available in the evenings. Beginning Monday, the Greenwood County One-Stop Workforce Center will offer a workshop in the evening. The "Building a Successful Resume workshop will be from p.m.

at the One-Stop Annex at 519 Monument Street, across from the county courthouse. And on March 27, the "Easy 1-2-3. Computer Resume Training" workshop will be p.m. at the Annex. Both workshops are free.

Workshops have been available at One-Stop centers throughout Abbeville, Edge field, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda counties through the Upper Savannah One-Stop Workforce System for years. Evening hours and workshops have been in the past but One-Stop officials said these seminars weren't well attended. Pat Chandler, of the S.C. Employment Security Commission office in Greenwood, will teach the Building a Successful Resume workshop. She said workforce development staff has discussed the idea of having evening workshops-again to see if there is now a demand for the services.

The evening workshops might benefit someone who already has a job but might be facing a layoff or is looking to change careers, she said. The Upper Savannah Job Fair is scheduled for April 26 at Greenwood Mall. "We hope Contributed photo Habitat project S.C.
